Challenge Team is an intensive and comprehensive youth development model designed to offer resources, support, guidance and accountability, as well as acceptance and belonging. Youth ages 14-18 transition to road cycling and are provided with the technical skills and training to do lengthy riding and elevation challenges. Youth set their own challenges and seek to become healthier and stronger.
Youth have the opportunity to participate in an introductory summer internship that provides hands-on learning modules, community service, and dialogue with community leaders. Subsequent internships give youth the opportunity to hold down their first job on an urban farm. High school juniors are paired with a college counselor to develop a post-high school graduation plan of action.
MBC youth have traveled to Atlanta, GA, San Francisco, CA, and Charlottesville, VA on cycling related trips.
